Review: Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick in Daughter of Darkness

Yesterday, I woke up early for my 10 a.m. Saturday class, which is Legal Writing. I don’t normally wake up an hour before class but– I wanted to make sure I looked human so I could take nice selcas with the lipstick that I’m reviewing today. 😀 (But then it turned out that we had no class today – I received the news just as I arrived at school. Guuuuuuh.)

Just in case you missed my first glance post on Manic Panic Lethal Lipsticks, click right HERE!

I purchased this lovely lippie from GWYSHOP, though I believe Rainbow Head sells them for around Php50 cheaper.

Daughter of Darkness is a deep oxblood colour with a matte finish. I’ve never worn dark lips outside the comforts of my room, so it was really exciting to go out wearing such a bold shade.

I took the above photo after freshly applying the lipstick. It glides on so smoothly, and two good swipes are all I need. I believe if you add another layer, the colour becomes even richer and more opaque – but since I was just going to school, two swipes are enough for me.

It has a nice, creamy vanilla scent which reminds me of a cupcake. I think it’s slightly comparable to how MAC lippies smell like, but take that comparison with a grain of salt as I haven’t tried on a MAC lippie in couple of years. /sad face/ The scent lingers for a few minutes, which I like. If you’re sensitive to scented makeup products, you might want to consider this.

When I arrived at school, I ended up studying at the Law Library for today’s Consti II class with Atty. Largo (the dean of the College of Law of the University of San Carlos in Cebu). I ate some candy, had some gum, and when I checked my lips they were still lovely and bold. Because I don’t really wear makeup to class, some of my classmates noticed. XD

A bit before noon, I went out with some of my classmates for lunch at Bethel. I had this nice fish dish with a creamy, savory sauce, with a cup of rice. I was curious as to how my lips would hold up, but decided to check when I got back to school.

As you can see, the colour’s faded and even slightly rubbed off at the inner lips, but the outer lips pretty much stick. I look like I’m wearing lipliner, don’t I? (I’ve wondered what it’s like to do my makeup like a chola, and seeing how my lips turned out I am partially fulfilled–)

I kept studying until around 3pm (we had so many readings, I honestly contemplated taking a nap a few times ehe), then I realized I wanted a change of environment and went upstairs to one of the other classrooms where my friends were. So of course I passed by the restroom and reapplied my lovely lipstick!

The girl likes that..
☆ ..it glides on smoothly.
☆ ..the pigmentation is pretty awesome. After I wiped the swatch off from my hand, it left quite a nice stain for a bit.
☆ ..it smells like cupcakes! *A*
☆ ..my lips felt soft even after removal.
☆ ..it’s a shade that’s bold, but when the rest of the face is kept neutral or even bare (I only filled in my brows here heh) it looks strangely wearable for day. I LOVE ITTTTTTT HNGGGGGG

The girl dislikes that..
□ ..it comes off when I eat. :c

The girl rates it..
..a 10/10!

Even if it comes off quite easily after eating, I’m still really satisfied with Daughter of Darkness. The oxblood shade is everything I wanted and more – deep, dark, vampy, and yet so wearable. I’m tempted to wear this more often.

Like, I-want-to-make-this-my-signature-lipstick tempted. Haha!

xx Marianne

I guess all lippies come off a bit when you eat. It’s just how it is. The colour is so nice, though. Make it your signature lippie! OMG!!
